Spreadshop Earnings - Taxation

Please consult your tax advisor or the IRS website for information on how to declare your earnings.

Spreadshirt requires Spreadshop shop owners to provide their complete and correct name (business name for corporations) and (business) address in their partner account. All shop owners must also provide their Social Security Number (SSN) or Tax Identification Number (TIN) under Account > Payment data & tax status.

Additionally, the following forms must be provided and can be found under payment data & tax status in your Partner Area:

  • US resident partners: W-9 form
  • Non-US resident partners: W-8 BEN form

Failure to provide complete and correct information may result in either withholding tax from the payout or no payout at all until complete and correct information is provided.

As far as legally required, Spreadshirt will send out 1099-misc forms to partners by January 31st of the following year.

US resident partners who have received their payouts through PayPal will not receive a 1099 form from Spreadshirt. PayPal may have a reporting obligation to the partner via the 1099-K form

As far as legally required Spreadshirt will also send out 1042-s forms to non-US resident partners by April 15th of the following year.
